DEM Party executive Muhammed Ayten sent to prison on the allegation of "membership in an illegal organisation".
Muhammed Ayten, a member of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) central assembly (PM), was sent to prison on the allegation of being a "member of a terrorist organization" as the result of an investigation initiated by the Antep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Lawyers reacted to Ayten being handcuffed behind his back while he was being taken to the Urfa Courthouse for his statement. An argument broke out between the lawyers and the police. Ayten, who was taken to the courthouse, was subjected to "subjugation" torture, which has been frequently applied in recent times.
Ayten, whose statement was taken via Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS), was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace on duty with a request for arrest. The court decided in favor of the detention of Ayten, who was then taken to Urfa No. 2 T Type Closed Prison.
