Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) former co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş, who has been imprisoned since November 2016, has sent a message for Sunday’s local elections in Turkey and North Kurdistan.
The message Demirtaş sent from Efirne Prison where he is held, which was published on his Twitter account, is as follows;
“Hello, how are you? You are going to the polls, aren’t you? Make sure you cast your votes and protect the ballot boxes until the counting ends. We shall be watching with joy the good results to be announced in the evening.”
The message of Demirtaş also included a bird he himself painted, with the note “Wishes for a more beautiful tomorrow”.
