Dirk Campbell: Kurds pose no threat to Turkey

Anna Campbell's father and friend of Kurds, Dirk Campbell, said that Kurds pose no threat to Turkey and have as much right to exist as anyone.

Campbell was interviewed by Erem Kansoy.

Campbell said: “Attacks are a continuation or upscaling of Erdogan's war on Kurds. The attempts to eradicate the Kurdish presence in the region is an offense against human rights. I am sure if the UN was called to vote on it, it would agree that the Kurds pose no threat to Turkey and have as much right to exist as anyone. The idea that their presence is a threat to Turkey is paranoia and racism.”

Dirk Campbell, father of internationalist Anna Campbell, is leading a campaign to have his daughter's remains, still lying on the battlefield in Afrin, returned to her family in the UK.

In May 2017, 27-year-old British activist Anna Campbell (Helin Qerecox) traveled to Syria to join the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) to fight ISIS. On March 15, 2018, Anna was killed by a missile strike by the Turkish Armed Forces during the massive bombardment of the Kurdish canton of Afrin in Rojava, which Ankara dubbed “Operation Olive Branch.”

The interview was prepared with the support of the Freedom for Ocalan Campaign and the Peace in Kurdistan campaign in collaboration with Medya Haber TV and Sterk TV.
