Eleven people have been remanded in custody as part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against HDK.
Within the scope of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), 51 people, including journalists, unionists, artists and politicians, were taken into custody on 18 January in house raids conducted in 10 provinces on charges of "being a member of an illegal organization".
The 51 people detained were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to give their statements to the prosecutor's office after their procedures at the Istanbul Provincial Police Department were completed on Friday morning. The prosecutor's office referred 16 of the 51 people to the Criminal Court of Peace on duty with a request to release them under judicial control, and remand 35 people in custody on charges of "being a member of an illegal organization".
The judge ruled to send 11 people to prison on charges of "being a member of an illegal organization". The interrogation of 40 people by the judge continued throughout Friday night.
The names of those remanded in custody are as follows: Atilla Özdoğan, Ece Yılmaz Karabacak, Özlem Feza Sezer, Yakup Kadri Karabacak, Aynur Cengiz, Ayşe Bengi Çelik, Dilek Posl, Erkin Barin Goyluler, Kardelen Tas, Melek Kizilocak, Sengul Erdoğan.
