It is reported that a Kurdish prisoner called Cengiz Celik who is suffering epilepsy was severely injured after being attacked by the prison guards in the Tekirdag F type prison which is notorious for torture and inhumane treatments.
The PKK member Cengiz Celik who has been serving his lifelong imprisonment for 14 years was transferred to Tekirday F type prison 5 months ago, as a punishment. The prison administration gave him solitary confinement punishment ignoring his epileptic seizures. Celik was also beaten up severely by the prison guard while being taken to the cell.
It is also reported that upon a request from the prison governor the prison doctor issued a report that his health condition is suitable for solitary confinement. When Celik challenged the report he was beaten up by several guards.
Bruises were all over his body
His sister Sevim Celik stated that although she spoke to the prison prosecutor about her brother’s health condition she was rejected.
She also stated that when she went to the prison for the weekly visit she found her brother on a wheel chair who could not walk as a result of the torture he has been subjected. “He could hardly stand. I was completely terrified when he showed me his body. Bruises were all over his body. He also told me that his cell mates Erhan Özel and Resul Çetin have also been beaten up by almost 40 guards when they attempted to prevent them to take my brother away.” added the sister.
Sevim Celik reported her brother’s statement: “I told the guards not to hit my head because I am epileptic. However they hit the window with my head and broke the glasses. All over my face was covered with blood. They also throttled my cardiac cellmate who tried to stop them. I saw them taking him away by beating. I fainted there. I was in the hospital when I woke up. The order to beat up us came from vice governor Ali Aktan who shouts in the corridors “Haven’t you died yet” and spitting in front of the cell doors.”
She further stated that she was given her brother’s bloody clothes which she immediately took to the prison prosecutor. However, the prosecutor rejected to see them and the she presented her petition to the prosecutor on call.
He also faces investigation in addition to being tortured
Sister Celik also stated that the prison administration started an investigation against her brother on account of resisting against the guards. She further stated that although she applied the President, PM, Minister of Justice, Minister of Interior and the Parliamentary Commission for Prevention of Toture all her attempts have failed.
She further added that security cameras in the prison have recorded all torture and can be found easily if an investigation launched.
