DEM Party MP Ömer Öcalan had a meeting with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held in İmralı Island Prison for 26 years under severe torture conditions and has been under absolute isolation for 43 months, with his right to meet with his family and lawyers completely taken away. In his message conveyed to the public through his nephew Ömer Öcalan, Abdullah Öcalan emphasised the continuation of the Imrali isolation and said, “If conditions are created, I have the theoretical and practical power to move this process from the ground of conflict and violence to the legal and political ground.”
The meeting and the message sent by Abdullah Öcalan after 43 months of absolute incommunicado continue to receive international support.
French Senator Anne Souyris, who made a statement on her social media account X, stated that she supports Abdullah Öcalan's call for peace and called on France to take responsibility.
Senator Anne Souyris' message reads as follows:
“Abdullah Öcalan was finally able to receive a visit after 43 months of isolation. The next day, Turkey bombed Rojava in response to attacks claimed by the PKK. I support his call for a lasting peace between the Kurdish and Turkish peoples. France must work towards a resumption of dialogue between the Turkish government and its minorities, particularly the Kurds, so that the fundamental rights of all are respected and peace is finally established through democratic co-governance.”
