Göksungur: We will stand up for our martyrs

The co-chair of the European umbrella organization KCDK-E, Fatoş Göksungur, called for people to come to Paris on 3 and 7 January to protest the Paris massacre.

On 23 December 2022, Evîn Goyî, Executive Council member of the KCK (Community of Kurdistan Societies), was shot dead in an attack in Paris along with Kurdish musician Mîr Perwer and longtime activist Abdurrahman Kızıl.

In an ANF interview, the co-chair of the European umbrella organization KCDK-E, Fatoş Göksungur, commented on the attack and called for protests.

"Cover-up tactics in the first Paris massacre made it easy for MIT"

Göksungur underlined the massacre in Paris on 9 January 2013, in which the Kurdish revolutionaries Sakine Cansız (Sara), Fidan Doğan (Rojbîn) and Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahî) were killed by the Turkish secret service MIT: “On 9 January 2013, three Kurdish Revolutionaries were murdered in the middle of Paris. Ten years have passed since then. For ten years, the French state, the French judiciary and the Turkish state have not investigated this massacre and have tried to cover up the case by the suspicious death of the killer in prison. For ten years, Kurdish women, people from Kurdistan and women's movements around the world have taken to the streets to expose those behind this massacre.

The French state then resumed the proceedings. This time, however, it was declared a state secret. Although the killer and the forces behind him were known, secrecy was ordered. This action prompted the anger of Kurdish women and the Kurdish people. Ten years later, while preparing for the tenth anniversary of this massacre, a second attack took place in Paris. Since the first massacre was not solved, the Turkish state was able to find a contract killer with the help of MIT and have Kurds shot. The murder of Kurdish women is an attempt to hold down the entire people.”

"Conflict between two factions in the French state"

Göksungur spoke of two different factions in the French state whose conflict is reflected in the proceedings: "The fact that this massacre was possible also has to do with France's attitude. Since the attack on 23 December, the French public, the French press, Kurdish women, the Kurdish diaspora, socialist movements, women's movements around the world and French friends have agreed with us that this is a sequel to the 2013 Paris massacre. However, French prosecutors and some authorities insist that this massacre was a racist attack by a single perpetrator. The fact that the killer was hospitalized on the grounds that he was 'mentally disturbed' and then arrested again after the protests naturally made us think: There are two factions within the French state. One faction is associated with the Deep State and Gladio. This faction tried to prove that the killer was mentally unstable and had him sent to a clinic. On the other hand, Macron and the interior minister, who say that the French state is a constitutional state... This second faction, in turn, instead of covering up the massacre, is trying to prove that the killer is mentally stable and should be brought to justice. At the moment, these two factions are at odds. We don't have any concrete information, but the current situation shows us that."

"Tweet from the Turkish ambassador is tantamount to self-disclosure"

Göksungur pointed out that since 23 December, the Turkish state has been trying to build up pressure to prevent an investigation. Political pressure is intended to force European states to prosecute those who linked the Paris murders to the Turkish state, according to Göksungur: "If we look at the measures taken by the Turkish state, we see that they aim to cover up the massacre. The Turkish state is trying to put pressure on France. The Twitter post by the Turkish ambassador in Paris is actually a cover-up attempt. He says: 'If the activities of the PKK are stopped and banned in Paris, then there will be no such massacres'. This is nothing but a confession. The French judicial authorities should accept this tweet as an admission. There are also a lot of names going around.

"The Kurdish women's movement was the target of the massacre"

Already ten years ago, attempts were made to cover up the massacre at that time without completing the court proceedings. Prosecutors should be careful at this point. This topic is very sensitive, because the Kurds are now fed up with such statements. Nobody should make fun of us. The target of these massacres are Kurdish women, the Kurdish women's movement fighting for freedom. If we look at the AKP-MHP regime, we see that it has an entirely fascist, monist, dictatorial, misogynist, anti-democratic, anti-people and fundamentalist character. The official ideology of the Turkish state, which has existed for 100 years, is based on this logic. It is not for nothing that the state feeds and promotes ISIS.”

"Evîn protected France, but France did not protect Evîn"

Göksungur continued: “Heval Evîn fought ISIS in Rojava and played a role in its defeat. Kurdish women have fought and defeated this force feared by all. Heval Evîn is a heroine who fought on the front lines in the war against ISIS, served as a commander and saved humanity from this nightmare. She had come to Paris for treatment. The newspaper Liberation ran the headline: 'Evîn protected France. But France did not protect Evîn'. This is very true and a shame for France.

All over the world, the capitalist system tries to control societies by subjugating women. The attack on women was intended to break social resistance. With the assassination of Jina Amini in Iran a few months ago, the slogan 'Jin, Jiyan, Azadî', coined by Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan], which has been bringing the Kurdish women's movement to life with its resistance and philosophy for years, has become a women's slogan  all over the world. The misogynistic policies have continuity in the state system. This brutal misogynist understanding is at the heart of the Turkish state. For this reason, the Kurdish women in Paris were attacked for the second time, this time in the person of Heval Evîn. Just like it did with Sakine, Fidan and Leyla.”

"We will stand up for our martyrs"

Fatoş Göksungur called for participation in the event to be held tomorrow, 3 January in Paris and for the demonstration on 7 January. "On 3 January we will salute Evîn Goyî, Mir Perwer and Abdurrahman Kızıl and send them to Kurdistan. Many French people, especially from Paris and the surrounding area, will attend the funeral service. Our appeal is to all our people.”

"On 7 January march in Paris"

Göksungur also called for a protest on 7 January, the tenth anniversary of the first Paris massacre: “On 7 January the demonstration prepared by Heval Evîn will take place. On 7 January, people from all over Europe will take part in this demonstration. Those who wish to come can contact our organizations in their countries. We call on all our people to participate in these two events in the spirit of resistance.”
