The Head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITC), Hasan Turan, announced on his Facebook account that he had met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara.
During the meeting, he said, a general evaluation was made regarding the situation of Turkmens in Iraq and the results of the most recent elections.
"The importance of maintaining joint coordination that will serve the two countries was emphasized at the meeting," said Turan.
Turkey and the Iraqi Turkmen Front, which acts according to the interests of the Turkish state, are cooperating to implement the plans of the Turkish state in Iraq and the region.
It is reported that plans regarding the Kirkuk election results were also discussed during the meeting.
Turan stated that after the meeting in Ankara, the Turkmen Front is expected to announce its position for the Kirkuk Governorate.
In Iraq, special voting for provincial general elections took place on 16 December and general elections on 18 December. According to official data from the Election Commission, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) won 5 seats, the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) won 2 seats, Arab alliances won 6 seats and the Turkmen Front won 2 seats in Kirkuk. In addition, one seat was elected from the Christian quota.
