HPG claims responsibility for the sergeant assassination

Kurdish guerrilla claimed responsibility for the assassination of the other day in which Yasin Ak, a gendarmerie specialised sergeant was killed in Yüksekova district of Hakkari province. In a press release HPG reported that the sergeant was shot in the street at close range and the guerrillas came back to their basis safe.

8 soldiers were killed

HPG press centre reported that Kurdish guerrillas attacked an on-the-move military vehicle carrying soldiers in Okçiyan region in Karakoçan district of Elazýð province and 8 soldiers were killed.

It is also reported that due to sabotage the road between Karakoçan- Okçiyan was closed for two hours. Turkish soldiers started an operation immediately.

2 soldiers were killed in Gurpinar

On 15 July at 16:30 a booby trap set by the guerrillas close to a gendarmerie station based on a hill which left 2 soldiers dead and many others injured.

Operation in Mazgirt

Since 13 July Turkish army is conducting a military operation in Mazgirt district of Dersim province.

Mortar shell and Howitzer attacks

Turkish army bombed Zagros Mountains in South Kurdistan with mortar shells and howitzers on 14 July between 19-20 o’clock. While the bombing caused no casualties, civilian settlements were destroyed.

Turkish army also bombed remote area around Yüksekova district on 15 July at night.
