In Mersin and Izmir detentions and arrests are continuing
Police detained 5 people at the house raids in Akdeniz District of Mersin.
Kerim Oral, Vedat Sayýn, Musa Yýldýz and two others Ýsmail and Uður, whose surnames aren’t reported, were detained following a number of house raids in Akdeniz, Þevket Sümer, Gündoðdu and Hal Districts. The detainees were taken to Mersin Police Department.
Fatma Öztunç remarked that the police insulted them and messed up the house, adding; “In the early morning hours, 6-7 policemen knocked at the door and came in, saying that they are looking for my daughter T., for whom they got a search warrant from the prosecution office. I told them that my daughter hasn’t lived here for a month but they didn’t believe. They started to search the house. They messed up everywhere and insulted us. They even looked into Koran to find something in it.”
Four of five detainees at house raids in Ýzmir, were arrested.
Of the 5 detainees, who were detained at the house raids by Ýzmir Police Department Anti-Terror Branch on 15 July, four were arrested. While Þiyar Alkan, who was taken to Ýzmir 10. High Criminal Court, was released; Erdal Gül, Fuat Aydýn, Selim Aybak and Mukaddes Çýnar were arrested on charges of “making organization propaganda”, “chanting illegal slogans”, damaging public domain” and sent to Kýrýklar F Type Closed Prison.
