International Delegation Against Isolation visits HDP and IHD in Ankara

The International Delegation Against Isolation visited the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Mithat Sancar and the Human Rights Association (IHD) in Ankara.

The ‘International Delegation Against Isolation’, consisting of 36 lawyers, journalists and academics from 7 different countries against the aggravated isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, continues its meetings in Diyarbakır, Istanbul and Ankara on the second day of an official visit to Turkey.

In Ankara, members of the international delegation attended a meeting at the Human Rights Association (IHD) Headquarters on Thursday. The meeting was attended by IHD Co-Chair Öztürk Türkdoğan and IHD Central Executive Board member Nuray Çevirmen, lawyers from the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) and the HDP’s Law and Human Rights Commission Co-Spokesperson, Serhat Eren.

The topics of discussion at the meeting were the violations of rights in Turkey’s prisons, the 24-year-long isolation of Öcalan and the lack of information about him for 22 months.

The delegation also attended a meeting at the HDP Headquarters. HDP Co-Chair Mithat Sancar and Party Spokeswoman Ebru Günay, Law and Human Rights Commission Co-Spokesperson Serhat Eren, and lawyers of the ÖHD attended the meeting, where the closure case against the party and the isolation of Öcalan were addressed. The meeting was held closed to the press.
