The Iraqi Joint Operations Command announced the liquidation of 311 mercenaries from ISIS during the year 2022, pointing out that most of them were important leaders of ISIS.
"The year 2022 witnessed many important achievements in field work, including the killing of 311 terrorists," said the spokesman for the Joint Operations Command in Iraq, Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, noting that 213 of them were killed by the Iraqi Air Force, and 98 were eliminated through many operations.
He said, according to what was reported by the Iraqi News Agency: "Most of the dead are important leaders of ISIS terrorist gangs, which allowed the destruction of the command and control system of those gangs."
He pointed out that the year 2022 was also the birth of the “targeting cell led by joint operations last February,” pointing out that this cell “undertook two basic tasks: preserving the citizens on the one hand, and the infrastructure on the other hand in the areas of security operations during clashes with the enemy or during air strikes.
Al-Khafaji hoped that there would be "more room for arming and training in the year 2023, to raise capabilities, continue to pursue terrorism and eliminate the remaining elements of it in the areas of security vacuums."
