Iraqi General Staff spokesperson Yahya Resul stated in a press release on Tuesday that deployment of border guard units to the Turkish and Iranian borders continued, RojNews reported.

Resul added that joint brigades would be established by the Kurdistan Region and Iraq to fill the security gaps.

The Iraqi spokesperson said: “A coordination between Iraqi forces and peshmerga forces needs to be established in order to fill the security gaps. Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are working on the establishment of joint brigades.”
