Islamist NGO’s call for ceasefire and stopping operations

While AKP government is trying to solve the Kurdish problem with Special Forces and kontrguerrilla, conservative and Islamist groups criticised AKP policies. Islamist NGO’s including Mazlum-Der and Özgür-Der called for laying down the weapons and finding a peaceful solution for the Kurdish problem.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Taksim Square in Istanbul on Sunday while calling the PKK to declare a ceasefire called the Turkish government to stop the military operations.

Speaking at the demonstration chair of Mazlum-Der Ahmet Faruk Ünsal criticised AKP government for its promises which have never been realised and said: “It is not possible to negotiate over peace while the clashes are continuing. Therefore, the PKK should declare a ceasefire and the state should top military operation.”

Ünsal further stated that the amendments in Anti-terror law regarding stone-throwing children are inadequate and what Turkey needs is a democratic administrative reform and an amnesty.
