The second phase of the global campaign launched on October 10, 2023, demanding freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and a political solution to the Kurdish question, was launched in Cologne on 1 March. The first phase of the campaign was announced on October 10 by friends of the Kurdish people with press conferences and various events in more than 100 cities around the world. Since the beginning of the campaign, uninterrupted actions have been carried out. In addition to marches, cards were sent to Öcalan from everywhere as part of the campaign to send 100 thousand cards to Imrali Island Prison, where Öcalan has been held in total isolation and has not been heard from for 36 months. While a giant march was organized in Cologne as part of the campaign on 17 February, hunger strikes and Justice Vigils are being carried out in prisons in Turkey with the same demand.

The Kurdish People's Democratic Assembly of Britain made a press statement at the Kurdish Community Center (KCC) in London regarding the second phase of the global campaign.

In the statement made by Sait Suruç from the Kurdish People's Democratic Assembly of Britain and London KCC Co-Chair Türkan Budak, the absolute isolation Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been subjected to for the last 25 years and the state of incommunicado he has been resisting for the last 4 years were condemned.

Remarking that Abdullah Öcalan is currently being held under the worst torture conditions in the world, the statement said, "In his person, the Kurdish people have been subjected to genocide for years. Rêber Apo (Leader Abdullah Öcalan) is the leader of the Kurdish people. He is the main actor in the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom. He is the greatest freedom fighter. And as we have always said, Abdullah Öcalan is the main negotiator to achieve a free Kurdistan and democratic Turkey. The Erdoğan regime's approach to him reflects the regime's approach to the Kurdish people. His isolation is the isolation of the Kurdish people and the people of Turkey."

The statement reminded that the Kurdish People's Assembly in Britain, together with all its organizations and components, participated in the international campaign "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, A Political Solution to the Kurdish Question" launched by friends of the freedom struggle on October 10, 2023, and said, "As of March 1, we are launching the second phase of the campaign. From today onwards, many important celebrations, such as March 8 International Women's Day, Newroz on March 21, Rêber Apo's birthday on April 4, and May 1 International Labor Day will mark and salute this global campaign under the slogan 'Freedom for Öcalan, A Political Solution to the Kurdish Question'. In this light, we call on all our people and friends to participate in this global campaign for freedom in the most determined and active way. We are launching the second phase in the UK in the hope of breaking the isolation, freeing Öcalan and bringing about a solution to the Kurdish question."
