Today, Thursday, the Kurdistan Information Office in Italy (UIKI), will organize a press conference at the Press National Federation headquarters in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 349 in Rome with the Italians members of the International Delegation Against Isolation which – during the past week – went to Turkey for a mission of inquiry into the isolation practices implemented in Turkish prisons, and in particular in the prison island of Imrali. Here, for 24 years, Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Ocalan has been kept in total isolation.
The press conference will be broadcast live on the transform.italia FB page.
The delegation met human rights associations, institutions, NGOs, associations of doctors and lawyers, journalists and family members of people detained in special regimes, parties, parliamentarians and leaders of the HDP, in Ankara, Istanbul and Diyarbakir.
The Italian delegation will present an initial report of the systematic violation of human and democratic rights that emerged during the numerous meetings, from the documentation and from the testimonies collected in Turkey.
Speakers will include, among others:
Michela Arricale and Herta Manenti, CRED-GIGI
Fabrizio De Sanctis, ANPI (Italian Partisan National Association)
Maurizio Acerbo, National secretary of the Rifondazione Comunista
Francesca Trasatti, National executive of Potere al Popolo
