Also protesting the police violence against journalists, the Press Council commented the intervention in journalists' work as an attack against the freedom of the press.
The Council called on relevant authorities to respect journalists' freedom of information and to provide necessary conditions to make sure that journalists can perform their work freely.
The Journalists Union of Turkey (TGS) has also called on all officials, Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Arınç and Interior Minister Muammer Güler in particular, to ensure the ending of the police attacks on media workers.
