The head of the Executive Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK) Murat Karayilan stated that if the Turkish government and the state do not take necessary steps in order to turn the unilateral ceasefire declared by the KCK into a bilateral one then from 20th September and on the non-action period will end itself.
The period between 12 and 20 September is very important. AKP government and the state should take concrete and genuine steps. said Karayilan.
Karayilan also said that with introducing Democratic Autonomy the Kurdish national liberation movement entered a new phase. He further stated that not responding the ceasefire will mean rejection of the period however; the problem can only be solved through dialog and negotiations. We are ready to negotiate. But if the Turkish side wants to solve the problem through violence, rather than dialog and negotiation and reject out hand for peace we will resist against it and start the democratic Autonomy period. added Karayilan.
Karayilan further stated that democratic autonomy is based more self-governance than mere ethnicity. Restricting central government will give more opportunities for empowering the local authorities and the locals to take part in decision making. added Karayilan.
Karayilan reiterated his call for boycotting the constitution referendum and said neither pro- nor anti-constitution parties accept the Kurdish reality. Thus for a proud stand the Kurds should not go to vote.
