The Congress of Democratic Societies of Kurdistan in Europe (KCDK-E) released a new year message, stating the following:

"2023 was a year in which the attacks of the genocidal Turkish state intensified in Bashur (South), Rojava (West) and Bakur (North) Kurdistan. The AKP-MHP fascist alliance intensified the concept of destruction against all the values of the Kurdish people at the highest level. This concept of annihilation against all our national values continued in the form of aggravating the absolute isolation of Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) and introducing new attack methods and tools.

Shengal and Maxmur, which are under the supervision of the United Nations, were subjected to invasion attacks and dozens of losses were experienced. The occupation attacks, which continue with the co-operation of the KDP, have reached advanced dimensions in Bashur and Rojava. Thanks to this treasonous co-operation, the occupying Turkish state has intensified its threat and expansionist ambitions in Kurdistan.

The silence of the Iraqi government and the treasonous line of the KDP, which has been giving away the Kurdistan lands, has made the fascist Turkish regime reckless and enabled it to continue all kinds of illegal warfare methods, including chemical warfare, in front of the eyes of the whole world.

The decomposition plan failed

The Turkish state, already on its deathbed, has become a dangerous focal point in the region by prolonging its moribund life thanks to the silence of the international powers and the treacherous line.

Despite the chemical weapons used in the attacks on guerrilla areas, despite all the means and opportunities provided by the Iraqi government, the KDP and international powers, the sons and daughters of the Kurdish people resisted with honour and defended their lands. The decomposition plan of the AKP-MHP fascist government failed and tasted defeat by experiencing the Zap syndrome.

The struggle has reached its peak

One of the most fundamental achievements of 2023 has been the worldwide culmination of the struggle for the physical freedom of Leader Apo. Starting on 10 October, the statements made wave by wave from many centres of the world have literally brought us to a historic juncture in which the struggle has reached its peak and the ideas of Leader Apo have been carried to a universal dimension.

Again, the activism against the terrorist lists, which are used as a barrier against our struggle and to obscure our just struggle and which are implemented as part of the international conspiracy, has gained widespread support.

A new counter front has been formed with the support of friends and humanity against the joint annihilation attacks of the US-NATO and Turkey's local forces, which put into effect the concept of annihilation and genocide in Kurdistan.

2023 was the year in which deep problems emerged as a result of the policies of global capitalism that disregard human life and ecology, and human life was abandoned to the palms of despair. We are living in a phase where the 3rd World War is now deeply affecting the whole world and has become a deep threat to human life.

Women's struggle gained momentum

2023, a year in which violence against women and femicides were intensely experienced, was also a year in which the slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" (Woman, Life, Freedom), in which women's resistance developed and grew with courage, became the flag of women's struggle. Thus, this universal uprising, in which the women's struggle gained momentum, revealed the power of women and their role in the social uprising against both reactionary regimes and capitalist modernity.

Öcalan’s paradigm internationalized

Our people living abroad turned every day and every place into a field of resistance against these massacre and genocide policies, embracing Kurdistan together with their friends, mobilizing against the occupation and massacre policies of the colonialists and waging a struggle at the level of uprising, making 2023 the year of struggle.

Against the fascist Turkish state's concept of isolation and liquidation of the Kurdish freedom struggle, 2023 was a year in which Leader Apo's paradigm internationalized and became the hope of humanity.

We welcome the new year by raising the resistance

While everyone is entering and celebrating a new year, the people of Kurdistan and their friends are welcoming it with a struggle by raising their resistance to claim the martyrs of the Paris massacre.

As KCDK-E, we congratulate the new year of the people of Kurdistan and their friends who fought against colonialism with great sacrifices and heroism in 2023, and all humanity who struggled for freedom, equality and democracy. In order to make 2024 the year of free leader and free Kurdistan, we call on everyone to mobilize, to increase the struggle and to achieve results by uniting."
