KCDK-E calls for participation in march to be held today in Geneva

The KCDK-E called for participation in the central march to be held today to mark the third anniversary of the vigil for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Geneva.

The Democratic Kurdistan Society Congress in Europe (KCDK-E) called for participation in the action to be held today on the occasion of the third anniversary of the action launched in Geneva to end the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The KCDK-E issued a statement saying: “Mass protests and demonstrations are taking place in many cities of the Middle East, Turkey, Kurdistan and the world. Applications were made to international institutions, such as the Council of Europe, the UN and CPT, in dozens of cities around the world.

Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] is being held in the island of Imralı for 24 years. For 24 years, the Kurdish people and their friends have been continuing to protest and demand his freedom. This growing resistance became global and passed to an international phase on 10 October 2023. The AKP-MHP fascist Turkish regime continues to impose isolation in Imrali with the support of international conspiratorial forces. The Imrali isolation and torture regime does not recognize any international law or rule.”

The statement added: “The ongoing struggle against the genocidal Turkish state was organized by the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Geneva, with the slogan "Dem dema azadiye ye" in front of the United Nations office on 25 January 2021. Activists are demanding to end the absolute isolation and to ensure freedom to the Kurdish people’s leader. The sit-in protest continues with determination every Wednesday.

Activists stated on every occasion that they would continue to expose the situation of the Kurdish people’s leader within the framework of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish question" initiative.

As the Geneva sit-in strike enters its 4th year, a central march will be held today, 13 December.

As KCDK-E, we salute this determined sit-in protest. On this occasion, we call on Kurds and their friends to mobilize for the central action today in Geneva."
