KCDK-E calls for participation in protest actions on July 3

The European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress has called for strong participation in the actions organized by the Defend Kurdistan Initiative on July 3.

The International Initiative ‘Defend Kurdistan’ has called for European day of action as part of the international initiative "DEFEND KURDISTAN against Turkish occupation!" to mobilize against Turkey's neo-Ottoman expansionist policies. The claims to former territories of the Ottoman Empire and Ankara's visions of great power are currently particularly evident in the southern part of Kurdistan (Kurdistan Region of Iraq). For two months now, the region has been under attack in violation of international law, unnoticed by the international community of states - with the help of jihadist mercenaries. The usual EU and NATO reactions to Turkey's military aggressions in its neighboring countries, such as "we condemn these steps" or "we are concerned," are absent this time. There is a deafening silence at the state level; an end to the war is obviously not in the governments' minds.

The European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress (KCDK-E) released a statement calling upon Kurds to participate in the actions on July 3.

“Under the leadership of the Defend Kurdistan Initiative, parliamentarians, senators, trade unionists, journalists, feminists, ecologists, academics, religious representatives, and civil society representatives from all over the world will organize marches on July 3 to protest Turkey's invasion.

Supported by international forces and institutions, the Turkish state continues to attack the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan by using dirty warfare methods. Chemical gases are used, and the nature and history of Kurdistan are destroyed during these attacks.

The friends of the people of Kurdistan, who formed the Defend Kurdistan Initiative, went to South Kurdistan to stop the war and to end the invasion attacks of the Turkish army. Our European friends formed delegations and visited the South Kurdistan government, political parties, press and NGO representatives discussing ways to avoid these attacks, and stated that an intra-Kurdish dialogue and negotiations should be adopted. However, all these efforts and initiatives have been hindered by various sovereign powers, especially the KDP.

These efforts of the Defend Kurdistan Initiative were blocked by many countries, particularly Germany.

The determined stance of our friends has exposed the forces that support the genocidal Turkish state, manifesting international support and the determination of the friends of the freedom struggle.

The colonialist Turkish state is attacking all the gains and values of the Kurdish people and seeks to realize their neo-Ottoman dreams by invading Kurdistan. Every honourable Kurdish individual should embrace the actions and activities of the Defend Kurdistan Initiative which was formed by our friends in order to protect the values of the Kurdish people against colonialism.

As KCDK-E, we urge all the people of Kurdistan and their friends to participate in the July 3 marches organized by the Defend Kurdistan Initiative against the occupation and massacre policies of the Turkish colonial state in a spirit of mobilization.”
