The 21st main hearing in the show trial known as the “Kobanê trial” against leading politicians of the HDP begins on Tuesday in the Sincan prison complex in Ankara.
Three days of hearings are planned this week, at the end of which the public prosecutor's office wants to submit his plea. The defense of the accused is not yet complete. Apparently, there is a will to end the political show trial as soon as possible.
The HDP called on the democratic public to support the process in solidarity. The trial is closely related to the banning proceedings against the HDP and the upcoming elections in Turkey.
In the Kobanê trial, which has been ongoing since April 2021, a total of 108 personalities from politics, civil society and the Kurdish liberation movement have been charged with terrorist offenses and dozens of murders in connection with the protests during the ISIS attack on Kobanê in October 2014.
Among them are former HDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, current co-chair Pervin Buldan, several current and former HDP MPs and mayors, and all members of the HDP central board of 2014.
