Kurdish institutions in Europe call for participation in August 14 protests

The Kurdish institutions in Europe have called for broad participation in the 14 August protests, stressing that protecting national unity and gains is the most important task.

Kurds and their democratic friends will join the marches to be held in all European countries, Canada and Australia on 14 August to enhance the resistance against the Turkish state’s attacks and to defend Kurdistan and the achievements of the Kurdish people."

In a written statement, Ji Bo Yekîtiya Netewiya Kurdistan/Ewropa, an umbrella organization formed by the Kurdish institutions in Europe, has called for unity against the attacks of the Turkish state.

“As the political and economic crises of the fascist Turkish state get worse, wars, occupations and massacres continue in Rojava and Southern Kurdistan. The Turkish state promotes racism and chauvinism in society and seeks to silence the voice of the oppressed and the national democratic struggle of our people. The Turkish state has managed to survive through hundreds of massacres and provocations since the day it was founded. The 100-year history of the Turkish Republic is full of blood and massacres.

'THE TASK IS TO PROTECT GAINS AND UNITY'

The international developments and the fragmentation of the Kurdish powers have recently encouraged the fascist colonialist Turkish state. The Turkish fascist state has masterfully taken advantage of many factors such as the contradictions between the Russia-Iran bloc and the US-EU bloc, the weakening of the central state structures in Syria and Iraq, its geopolitical position against the West, its NATO membership, being the hotbed of migration movements from Asia and the Middle East to the West. But the most important factor is undoubtedly the division among the Kurdish national forces and the lack of unity. It is their inability to resolve their internal problems on the basis of national unity and develop a common attitude against colonialism as a whole. Therefore, we would like to say that the most important duty is to set aside the internal conflicts between Kurdish powers and to protect the gains of the Kurdish people in Bashur and Rojava. The only way to do that is to focus on national unity.”

It is our call to our people and to all oppressed peoples: Come, let's voice it to the world public by joining the 'Let's defend Kurdistan' march on August 14, 2021.”
