The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Executive Council issued a statement about the KCK's decision to halt military actions due to the earthquake.
The KNK said: "The KCK Executive Council decided to stop all military actions and announced this decision to all authorized forces and to public opinion. The decision was taken in order to support the solidarity of the peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey with each other under the extraordinary conditions caused by this severe earthquake, to save living people and animals still under the rubble, and to facilitate the recovery of bodies trapped in the debris.”
The statement continued: "We find this decision taken by the KCK very important and appropriate, and we support it. This is a very humane decision taken under painful and difficult conditions. This decision offers the peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey the opportunity to show solidarity and heal each other's wounds despite the multifaceted destruction caused by the earthquake. In addition, this decision shows that the Kurdistan freedom forces put life at the center of their policies and act in this direction.
The KNK hopes that the Turkish government will not abuse this decision militarily and politically, and hopes that this humanitarian decision will be implemented carefully and seriously by all parties.
We demand from all national dynamics of Kurdistan that this decision be widely announced to the national and international public opinion."
