Kurdish journalists have been banned from covering the Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogans referendum campaign in Diyarbakir. The Province Governor Office stated that the permission was denied by the Prime Minister Office press consultants.
While the Turkish PM states in his every speech that he is against the bans and the new constitution will bring more freedom and democracy, the correspondents of the Kurdish press including our agency Firat News Agency (ANF), Dicle News Agency (DIHA) and the Kurdish daily newspaper Azadiya Welat were denied permission to cover the PMs campaign due to prohibition from PMs press consultants.
The correspondent upon their application for the permission were informed by the Diyarbakir Governor Office that the press consultants of PM have prepared a list of press which will not be granted permission to cover the PMs referendum campaign which includes above mentioned Kurdish press.
