Musician Hozan Cane who was detained in Turkey 3 days ago for pariticating in HDP’s election campaign, has been jailed.
Kurdish musician Hozan Cane, a German citizen, was last week detained in Edirne, western Turkey, where she had participated in the election campaign of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP). Cane was stopped by the police while leaving the Enez district after the program.
The musician is facing the accusation of “membership to a terrorist organization”, citing a scene from the feature film "74th Genocide of Shengal", in which Hozan Cane plays the main role and for which she has written the screenplay. In the film, which deals with the genocide of the Ezidis in Shengal by the so-called Islamic State in 2014, the musician carries a weapon in one scene.
Hozan Cane was transferred to Edirne Prison.
