Kurdish women demanded justice for Sakine, Fidan, Leyla

Kurdish women staged a demonstration in the French capital Paris to protest the French state's ongoing silence about the execution of three Kurdish politicians, Sakine Cansız, a co-founder of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), Fidan Doğan, representative of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) in Paris, and Leyla Şaylemez, member of the Kurdish youth movement, in Paris on 9 January.

Staging a march from Kurdish Cultural and Art Academy of Paris to the Kurdistan Information Office, where three women were found shot dead, demonstrators tied their mouths with black bands to condemn the French judiciary's failure to shed light on the killings so far.

“France will be partner in crime should it shed no light on the killings” read the banner they carried as they demanded the exposure and trial of perpetrators.

The march ended with one minute's silence for three Kurdish revolutionaries in front of the Kurdistan Information Office.

Following the demo, the European Movement of Kurdish Movement (TJKE) announced the start of their activities in the scope of the “Rojava revolution is a women's revolution, protect the revolution” campaign they launched on September 1.

TJKE and the Kurdish women's organizations joining the demo called for mobilization for the campaign which is aimed at the provision of aid materials to meet the daily needs of the women in Rojava.

A delegation of woman activists visited the offices of the UN Representative in Paris, International Federation for Human Rights, Reporters Without Borders and woman deputies of different political parties, and presented them files for the campaign.

Kurdish women in the German cities of Hannover and Düsseldorf also gathered in front of French representatives' offices to re-voice their demand for justice for three Kurdish politicians.

Women urged the French government to expose the truth on Paris killings and asked the reason for the French state's silence about the executions.

Women also called for mass participation in the march to be staged in Hannover on September 7, Saturday, in solidarity with Rojava.
