Kurds in Bern protest isolation imposed on Öcalan

Kurds living in Bern organized a protest to draw attention to the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and submitted a file to Amnesty International.

Kurds living in Bern gathered in front of Bern Bahnhof to protest the isolation imposed on Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Bern Kurdish Cultural Association co-chair Mine Çetinkaya said that the so-called human rights organizations, starting from the CPT, “acted hypocritically”.

She added that Abdullah Öcalan is the leader of the Kurdish people. A people whose leader is a prisoner is also prisoner."

HDP Amed MP Musa Farisoğulları said that Abdullah Öcalan has been resisting within four walls for 24 years. Noting that the isolation imposed on him in Imrali is a continuation of the conspiracy [which led to his arrest], Farisoğulları criticized the silence of the international community in the face of this unlawfulness.

Farisoğulları said that all Kurds should protest isolation and called for the struggle to be enlarged until Abdullah Öcalan is freed.

A German text was read to the crowd and then a delegation delivered a file explaining the regime of isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan to Amnesty International.
