Lawyers called on govenment to clearify meaning of 'initiative'

Lawyers from the Diyarbakir Bar Association called on the army to stop military operations and on the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to call a new ceasefire, so to facilitate the end of conflicts and casualties.

Emin Aktar, head of Diyarbakir Bar Asociation, speaking at the meeting of the Bar Association in Diyarbakir called on both parties to stop their operations.

“The stepping back from the government's 'opening initiative' had a reason - he said - and the reason is for the government to be free to announce a new state of emergency. The AKP (Justice and Development Party) government needs to make clear what it means by democratic opening. What is the schedule? At the same time, the soldiers must end the operations and PKK must announce the cease fire as a first step toward a solution."
