The 25-day Long March from Paris to Strasbourg to demand the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan arrived in Metz on Wednesday night. Today the march will end in Strasbourg and then activists will go to Cologne for the central rally on Saturday.
The Metz stage of the long walk started in the city center and ended in front of the municipality.
Abdullah Öcalan's speech played at the march
During the march, leaflets about the Imrali genocide attack against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan were distributed. Öcalan's own speech was also played over the loudspeaker.
Activists called on all Kurds and their Kurdish friends to turn Cologne into a bastion of resistance in this struggle for the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Activists saluted the guerrillas
The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas were saluted and support was expressed to the resistance they are carrying out in the mountains of Kurdistan. Postcards were sent to Imrali as part of the international campaign launched on 10 October.
Protest in front of the CPT
Today the activists will stage a protest in front of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture-CPT, before making their way to Cologne.
