Öcalan condemns Paris killings -FLASH

Following the visit to Ýmralý on Monday afternoon, Mehmet Öcalan, Bayram Kaymaz's mother Medine Kaymaz and Cumali Karsu's sister Pervin Oduncu returned to Gemlik in the evening.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting with his brother, Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan, Mehmet Öcalan said the Kurdish leader has condemned the killing of Sakine Cansýz, Fidan Doðan and Leyla Þaylemez in Paris on 9 January. Öcalan conveyed his brother's condolences to the families of the three Kurdish women and politicians.

“He said the Paris killings are another Dersim Genocide”, remarked Mehmet Öcalan and said the followings about the Kurdish leader's message on the killings; “He said it is important to shed light on the killings as this will also help to progress the ongoing process of talks. He said this assassination was a message and that the perpetrators should be found out quickly. He added he would make a statement to BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) co-chairs about the ongoing process if they will have the possibility to meeting him in Ýmralý.”

Asked about the television issue [Turkish PM Erdoðan has recently stated that Öcalan is provided with all kind of needs, including a TV], Mehmet Öcalan noted that “He said the prison administration insisted on putting a TV in his room though he didn't ever ask for one”.

It has been learned that Bayram Kaymaz refused to see his mother Medine Kaymaz in protest against the reduction of the time given to prisoners for the meeting with their families.

On the other hand, four members of the Prison Watch Council have reportedly made examinations in Ýmralý prison today.
