After reports speculating that all of the 18 prisoners who escaped yesterday from Bingol jail had been captured, Interior Minister Muammer Güler (to whom the statements had been attributed first) has told daily Hürriyet that 17 of the prisoners had been caught as of 12 p.m. (Turkish time), while one of the escapees, remain on the run.

A man seized in the morning was thought to be the PKK prisoner, but identity checks confirmed the mistake.
