Around 12,000 people from all over Europe marched to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Monday, demanding that the European Union put Iran's Revolutionary Guards in the list of terrorist organizations.
The crowd carrying Iranian flags set off for the European Parliament, where MEPs had just begun the monthly plenary session.
Alireza Akhondi, a member of the Swedish Parliament who organized the demonstration, said: "We are coming together to make the voices of Iranian women and men heard in Europe and to ask the European Parliament to continue to be on the right side of history. Without their voice, there would be no revolution in Iran."
When the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, arrived in front of the institution's headquarters, she assured the demonstrators that the Members of the European Parliament were "on their side" and added: "We will call on the international community to respond strongly to the terror unleashed on the people in the streets of Iran by the regime."
