The Communist Party of France expressed its solidarity with the Syrian Kurds and condemned the new war declaration issued by the Turkish dictatorial regime.
The French Communist Party (PCF) said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has threatened to occupy Rojava not independently from the US and Russia.
In a written statement, the Communist Party said: “The attacks, which are being prepared after the occupation of Afrin, aim at breaking the democratic, peaceful and progressive experience of the Kurds, who are the main force against the Islamic State (ISIS) in the field.”
Such a decision [to occupy other areas in Rojava], said the statement “cannot be taken without contacting Russia, and particularly the US military commanders”, adding: “Is Washington hoping that NATO will act as a guarantor of Ankara's expansionism and retake control in Syria?”
The PCF statement continued as follows: “France, the European Union and international institutions must act urgently to prevent new war crimes. The PCF expresses its solidarity with the Syrian Kurds and condemns the new war declaration issued by the Turkish dictatorial regime.”
The Communist Party of France ended its statement by saying: “Rojava should be taken under international protection in order to end Turkey's criminal and illegal policy" and said the UN Security Council should analyse this issue.
