Police carried out raids in Van (Wan) early on Friday morning. Former Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Van co-chair Harun Okay and Peoples' Equality, Democracy Party (HDP) former Provincial co-chair, Van Metropolitan Municipality City Council President Fikret Doğan were taken into custody. Mustafa Döner was detained in the Tatvan district of Bitlis (Bedlîs). The detainees were taken to the Van Provincial Police Department.
The detentions were related to the file related to the mayor of Esenyurt Ahmet Özer, who was removed from his position, and replaced by a government appointed trustee.
ANKARA
15 people, including Socialist Workers Party (SEP) General chair Güneş Gümüş and Central Executive Board (MYK) member Gökçe Şentürk, were taken into custody in house raids conducted in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir on Friday morning.
SEP chair and other unnamed SEP members taken into custody in Ankara were taken to the city’s Police Department, while those detained in other cities would be brought to Ankara. The lawyers were not informed about the charges as a confidentiality order was imposed on the file.
