In a statement the Presidency Communications Directorate said: "The resignation of our interior minister has not been accepted by the president, he will continue his duty."

Soylu had said earlier on Sunday that he was resigning from his post after admitting errors in handling the implementation of a two-day curfew declared to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
