Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan made an interesting consideration just as the discussion in Ankara about the Iraqi border is heating up. In Erdoðan’s opinion, the "PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) has taken a region in North Iraq under its control".

At the press conference after the G20 meeting in Totonto/Canada, Erdoðan spoke as follows; “Where is the territorial integrity when a country witness some people literally taking control over a part of the country?"

Erdoðan made these remarks while answering to a journalist who had asked about the trio mechanism. Erdoðan said: “This matter has many dimensions like psychological, sociological and security. The trio mechanism is already performing a work of these dimensions. As you know, Northern Iraq doesn’t have any ruling structure at the moment due to its geographical position. The central government has no dominance on Northern Iraq. The trio mechanism is now discussing how the region could be governed and be sovereign while a separatist terror organization has deployed and is now governing a certain area in the region.”
