In Karatay district of Konya province in Central Anatolia, supporters of the savage ISIS organization raided the houses of Kurdish citizens and threatened them with beheading and bombing their houses.

During the following conflict and armed attack which police forces just watched and weren't involved in at all, former HADEP district chair Mehmet Reşit Akın's wife and son were wounded. The Kurdish population in the district said they would take measures to protect and defend themselves.

Incidents in the district erupted late yesterday evening when a group of ISIS supporters conducted an armed attack against the people who joined a march in Saraçoğlu neighborhood to condemn the Suruç massacre which left 31 people dead three days ago.

In the neighborhood which houses a large Kurdish population, and in which HDP received 22 thousand votes in the June 7 election, the pro-ISIS group threatened the patriotic Kurdish citizens and conducted an armed attack targeting the house of former pro-Kurdish HADEP party district chair Mehmet Reşit Akın.

Akın's wife Fidan, who was wounded on the back, and 13-year-old son Beraat, wounded on the chin, were hospitalized after the attack, both reportedly not in critical condition.

The assailants also raided HDP Karatay district co-chair Nazmiye Bozkurt's house and threatened them with beheading and not allowing them to shelter there. The pro-ISIS group also attacked and greatly damaged the car of HDP Karatay district executive Salih Damar.

It has been reported that the assailants included armed and long-bearded men joining them from outside the neighborhood. Two brothers among them are said to be acting together with a relative of theirs, Farız Özalan, who had previously raided the workplace of former DBP district executive Aryen İşlek and threatened to behead him. Özalan's brothers are also reported to be in the ranks of ISIS.

It is also reported that this most recent attack was led by the pro-ISIS group that raided Aryen İşlek’s workplace near Mevlana Museum in Konya and threatened him with death earlier this month. Turkish officials paid no attention to the criminal complaint filed by İşlek against the assailants.

Police units in the district just watched the incidents as the assailant group threatened Kurdish citizens.

In the meantime, reports say that police detained the youths attacked by the pro-ISIS group yesterday, and took no action against the ISIS supporters, saying that; "Even if we detain them, we will have to release them tomorrow."

This morning, the group once again gathered somewhere near the house of Mehmet Reşit Akın they targeted yesterday.

Speaking about the incidents, HDP Karatay ditrict co-chair Musa Göz said; "This attack is neither the first nor the last one because of the fact that these people can freely act and wander around the day after they attack. No action is being taken against them despite the complaints we file. None of us has safety of life here."

Remarking that police teams remained silent and inactive in the face of the attacks against Kurdish citizens, Göz said; "So, we will gather and take our own measures. We have no other choice left. There is no authority we can trust."
