Protest for Leyla Guven in front of Swedish Foreign Ministry

Solidarity with Leyla Güven is growing.

A protest was held in front of the Swedish Foreign Ministry to show solidarity with Leyla Guven, on a hunger strike for 69 days against the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and all other hunger strike activists.

The protest was held in Stockholm at 14:30 under snowfall. A group of Kurds dropped coffins with photographs of Leyla Guven and other hunger strikers on them in front of the Foreign Ministry building as they carried flags with photographs of Ocalan on them.

Activists passed flyers about their protest and demanded audience with the Foreign Ministry officials.

Foreign Minister Margot Wallström’s Press Chief Patric Nilsson stepped outside to meet with the protesters.

Activists spoke about the Turkish state’s isolation against Ocalan and the hunger strikes, demanding that the Swedish government take initiative to end the isolation. The activists also gave a file on the isolation to Nilsson.

Nilsson said they will monitor the issue and hand the file over to the Foreign Ministry’s Human Rights and International Relations units to be processed.
