Protests against brutality of Turkish soldiers continue

It is the third day that shopkeepers in Yüksekova district of Hakkari have not opened their shops in order to protest the brutal and inhumane treatment of the Turkish army against the bodies of the Kurdish guerrillas who lost their lives in the clashes took place in Pervari district of Siirt and Beyyurdu village of Þemdinli.

State officials did not give the 8 bodies of those 10 PKK guerrillas who lost their lives in Pervari to their families and buried them in a cemetery for unknown people, although the families were waiting in front of the hospital to receive the DNA test result. The official have also violated the 15-day legal period which they had to wait before burring a body in such a cemetery.

Meanwhile, the bodies of those 12 guerrillas who lost their lives in 5 July in Beyyurdu village of Þemdinli have been destroyed by the soldiers. The attendant of the funerals stated that one body was beheaded and eyes of the many bodies had been taken out. They also stated that the bodies had knife scars all over.

While the protests in Yüksekova are continuing on the third day the shopkeepers also did not open their shops in order to support the protests.
