PUK rejects statement made on behalf of Public Security Council

Members of the PUK in the Kurdistan Region Public Security Council rejected the statements made on behalf of the Kurdistan Region Public Security Council and stated that they did not have information about the operations named in the statement.

In the statement issued on Monday on behalf of the Kurdistan Region Public Security Council, it was claimed that "the attempts of some terrorist groups were foiled” and that “there were PKK members among the groups blocked."

In a written statement, the PUK denied the allegations.

“The Kurdistan Region Public Security Council consists of 5 main members, namely the Advisor to the Public Security Council, the Chairman of the Regional Public Order Board, the Chairman of the Science Board, the Chairman of the Defense Board and the Head of Peshmerga Intelligence. Three of them are from PUK and two of them are from KDP.”

The statement added: “When we had a meeting with our three members in the Kurdistan Region Public Security Council, it was revealed that the PUK members had no knowledge of such an operation. A statement was made on behalf of the Kurdistan Region Public Security Council on 26 October 2020. As we knew nothing about this operation, the PUK members within the Kurdistan Region Public Security Council reject these declarations."
