Security offices other than Iraqi police banned in Kirkuk

The Iraqi Parliament has banned the asayish (security) offices other than the Iraqi Federal Police in Kirkuk.

The Iraqi Parliament banned opening any asayish (security) offices in Kirkuk other than the Iraqi Federal Police in today’s session. 166 MPs attended the session where a decision was made regarding Kirkuk and the disputed territories.

Opening any asayish (security) bureaus in Kirkuk and other disputed territories other than Iraqi Federal Police has been banned. The parliament also passed motions criminalizing the display of the Israel flag and “large scale gatherings”. In the past, political parties could have asayish bureaus in Kirkuk, and the KDP, PUK and the Turkmen Front had separate offices.
