SDF successfully thwarts two ISIS attacks in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor

SDF forces thwarted two separate ISIS terrorist attacks on Internal Security Forces and a self-defense vehicle in Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside.

On Wednesday evening, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) successfully thwarted two separate terrorist attacks carried out by ISIS cells in towns located in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

According to the SDF Press Center, the first attack targeted an Internal Security Forces checkpoint in the town of Dhiban, when an ISIS terrorist cell opened fire using AK-47 rifles. SDF forces intervened immediately, engaged the terrorists, and responded with decisive force, ultimately forcing the cell to flee.

The second attack occurred in the town of Jdeidet Akidat, where another ISIS terrorist cell targeted a military vehicle belonging to the Self-Defense Forces with a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). SDF forces responded swiftly and with heavy firepower, compelling the attackers to flee. Several members of the terrorist cell were injured during the exchange, though the exact number remains unknown.

No casualties were reported among the SDF forces in either attack.

“In recent days, ISIS terrorist cells have attempted to destabilize the region through sudden and treacherous terrorist attacks on security positions. However, thanks to the vigilance and readiness of our forces, all such attempts have been foiled,” the SDF stated.

The SDF stressed that their forces remain committed to pursuing the remnants of the terrorist organization, dismantling their networks, and ensuring the continued safety and stability of the region.
