More Kurdish youths in Rojava, Kurdistan and Europe are joining the “Serî Hilde” [Rise Up] campaign launched by the Komalen Ciwan (Communities of Youth) and Komalen Jinen Ciwan (Communities of Young Women) on October 30th. The campaign that will last until the Newroz, March 21, of 2018 aims to raise awareness about the isolation on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and demand his freedom, resist against Turkish attacks on Rojava and invasion of Southern Kurdistan and celebrate 40th anniversary of PKK.
Dozens of members of Kurdish youth’s umbrella organization Ciwanên Azad and Jinên Ciwanên held a march in Strasbourg to salute the ‘Serî Hilde’ campaign.
The Kurdish demonstrators marched from Strasbourg Democratic Society Centre to Place Kléber behind a banner that read ‘SERÎ HILDE’ and ‘AZAD BIKE’ (Free).
The youths chanted “Long Live Leader Öcalan”, “Freedom for Öcalan” and “No Life Without the Leader” in French and sang Kurdish anthems.
The demonstration ended following a speech at Place Kléber.
