Federation of Socialist Youth Associations (SGDF) Co-President Oğuz Yüzgeç has been taken into custody on Burgaz Island in Istanbul at 05:00 this morning.

Yüzgeç had survived the Suruç massacre, which left 31 socialist youths dead and many others wounded prior to their leave for Kobanê, with injuries.

It is reported that Yüzgeç has been detained on the basis of an arrest warrant issued for him in relation to a demonstration he joined in 2013, accused of “opposing the law on meetings and demonstrations”.
