Six people detained in Siirt

Six people were detained at the home raids made after the missile attack on Doðu Barrack of 3rd Commando Brigade Commandership in Siirt.

A missile attack was carried out on 3rd Commando Brigade Commandership in Bayraklý location in Siirt city centre. While there is no information about any deaths or injuries after the attack at around 21.00 last night, the city centre was blockaded by police and special operation teams. The fire started during the attack was extinguished by soldiers.

Following the attack, many houses in Ulus District -close to the barrack- were raided by police. At the raids, Aldermen Abdullah Aþkara and Mahmut Aþkara, Þükrü Kýlýçaslan, Sait Kýlýçaslan, Reþit Kýlýçaslan and Mesut Kýlýçaslan were detained. It was reported that the houses were littered during the raids.

Herdem Aþkara,wife of detainee Abdullah Aþkara,remarked that their house was raided by police at around 05.00 in the morning and messed up. Aþkara added that the policemen awoke their children and gave them a fright. The family was also not allowed to perform the salaat despite the salaat time.

It was reported that 6 detainees were released after giving statements at Provincial Security Directorate.

It was also reported that wide-scale military operations were started in the rurals of Kayaboðaz (Xerte) and Yerlibahçe (Qutmiz) villages of Siirt after the attack.
