Police forces attacked the people who held demos in the southern provinces of Adana and Mersin to protest state terror in the Kurdish region. Six people were wounded in the crackdown, and 24 others were detained.
ADANA
Hundreds of people took to the streets in Dağlıoğlu, Şakirpaşa, Hürriyet, Gülbahçe, Fırat, Havuzlubahçe and Anadolu neighborhoods of Adana's Seyhan and Yüreğir districts against the state terror in Northern Kurdistan, Cizre in the first place.
People built up barricades and waged resistance till early morning hours, to which police responded with attacks, leaving three people wounded, one heavily.
The heavily wounded civilian by the name of Veysi Bozkır, who was hit bu a bullet in the stomach, was first taken to Adana Private Güney Hospital from which he was later referred to Adana State Hospital. He is reported to be remaining in life-threatening situation.
As the people resisted the police attacks till early morning hours, police forces have retreated from the neighborhoods.
MERSİN
People in Akdeniz and Tarsus districts of Mersin also staged protest demos against police terror on the people.
Defending themselves against the attacks, demonstrators built up barricades and waged resistance in Yeni Pazar and Şevket Sümer neighborhoods of Akdeniz district, which forced police forces to retreat early in the morning.
As police terror Tarsus also lasted till early morning, three people wounded in the attacks were later detained whilei receiving treatment at hospital.
Police forces on the other hand took 21 people into custody in the neighborhoods of Fahrettin Paşa, Barbaros, Tozkoparan and Gazi Paşa.
