The global campaign demanding freedom for Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and a solution to the Kurdish question is spreading more and more. In South Africa, a socialist movement with 120,000 members called for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan.
The socialist movement Abahlali baseMjondolo (Shack Dwellers), which was founded in 2005 in South Africa to defend the rights of millions living in shack houses and has 120 thousand members, held its General Meeting. The meeting saluted the international campaign for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.
Sibu Zikode, the president of the movement, called Abdullah Öcalan a "Heval” (Comrade) in his speech.
Zikode saluted the resistance of the Kurdish people and emphasized that the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is also their demand.
"Just as we called Mandela a leader, today Öcalan is a leader of freedom for us," Zikode said.
After the speech, slogans demanding freedom for Abdullah Öcalan echoed in the hall.
Members of the movement also observed a moment of silence for Sara Hogir Riha and Bişeng Brusk, members of Komalên Ciwan and Komalên Jinên Ciwan Coordination, who were martyred in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in 2023.
A speech was also made on behalf of Ronahî Youth Foreign Relations Committee, which called for increasing the internationalist struggle.
The committee thanked the South African youth for supporting the struggle for the physical freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
