Swedish MP: All countries should object to the isolation

Swedish MP Bodil Valero visited the unlimited non-alternating hunger strike activists in Strasbourg and said, “All countries, let alone the European Union and its member states, should have objected to this isolation that has continued for years.

Sweden Greens (Miljöpartiet) member MEP Bodil Valero met with the Kurdish activists in strasbourg whose indefinite non-alternating hunger strike left 87 days behind.

Valero was accompanied by HDP Representative Fayik Yagizay and held a brief meeting with hunger striker Yuksel Koc.

“WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE THE RESISTANCE UNTIL THE ISOLATION IS BROKEN”

Koc said their protest is not only for the Kurdish people or the Kurdish People’s Leader, but they also aim to end the war and establish a peace where peoples live free. Koc added that all hunger strikers have health issues, and continued: “But we will not compromise the resistance until the isolation is broken. Our only demand from the Council of Europe and the CPT is that Mr. Ocalan is allowed to meet with his lawyers and family so he is able to play his role.”

Koc said Leyla Guven and Nasir Yagiz are also at a critical stage and stressed that thousands of people have joined the resistance with the addition of prisons.

VALERO: COUNTRIES SHOULD HAVE OBJECTED TO THIS YEARS-LONG ISOLATION

Swedish MEP Bodil Valero stressed the courage of the hunger strikers and said she has faith that the protest will prevail. Valero stressed that the isolation has continued for years and is in violation of international law: “All countries, let alone the European Union and its member states, should have objected to this isolation that has continued for years.”

Valero pointed out that Turkey is a NATO member and added that all states and institutions that have relationships with Turkey should object to the isolation policies.

“PEOPLES OF THE WORLD OWE A LOT TO THE KURDS”

Bodil Valero said she agrees with Yuksel Koc, who said Erdogan and his state are behind ISIS ideology and that new groups like ISIS will emerge as long as they are in power, and added that Erdogan’s involvement in this ideology has been known since the beginning. Valero said the peoples of the world owe a lot to the Kurds who have paid a great price against ISIS ideology and defeated them.

Valero stressed the importance of breaking the isolation and reestablishing a dialogue and added that the isolation is a joint issue for them.
