Demo in Sirrin: We will stand up against occupation and ensure victory

Protests against the invading Turkish state's attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria together with mercenary allies are growing.

Masses took to the streets in the town of Sirrin, south of Kobanê, in protest at the ever-increasing attacks by the Turkish army and the so-called “Syrian National Army” mercenary allies.

People marched from Sirrin Town Square to the Martyrs' Square, condemning the massacre of civilians and carrying photographs of those who lost their lives in the latest wave of genocidal attacks.

Addressing the crowd at the Martyrs' Square, Hamdan al-Abid, Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council of North and East Syria, expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery to the wounded.

Hamdan al-Abid said: “The remnant organization called SNA wants to occupy our country. We fought against terrorism and occupation and defeated terrorism thanks to the sacrifices of our children. We did not give an opportunity to those who want to destroy the democratic nation project and divide the peoples.”

Speaking on behalf of the people of Sirrin, Hazim al-Hamdan, a member of the Mediation Committee, drew attention to the never-ending attacks by the Turkish state.

“These attacks are not new, they are an attempt of genocide against the people of North and East Syria. They do not only want to revive ISIS mercenaries but also to destroy the democratic nation project in the region,” he stated.

Al-Hamdan highlighted the unity of the components of North and East Syria and said, “As the people of Sirrin, we condemn these massacres. We will stand up against occupation and ensure victory.”
